Sonia J. Buck

Sonia J. Buck was born in Portland, Maine, May 17, 1971. She received her B.A. in English and Business from the University of Southern Maine, cum laude, in 2002, and received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law, magna cum laude, in 2005. In law school, she was the Production Editor of the Maine Law Review, which published her case note entitled Church Liability for Clergy Sexual Abuse: Have Time and Events Overthrown Swanson v. Roman Catholic Bishop of Portland? Sonia also participated in the Duberstein National Bankruptcy Moot Court competition, for which she received the Gignoux Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy at her law school graduation.

Her memberships include the Maine Bar Association, the Androscoggin County Bar Association, the Maine Employment Lawyers Association, and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Sonia chairs the Program Committee for the Women’s Law Section of the Maine Bar Association and has written several articles for American Bar Association publications.  She is also an adjunct faculty member at Andover College, where she has taught business and paralegal courses and also serves on the Advisory Committee.

She lives in Auburn with her husband, Charlie. She enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. A Maine native, she particularly enjoys all that Maine has to offer during the beautiful summer months, including boating, beaching, and camping.

Her practice areas include employment law and civil litigation, with a focus on commercial litigation, including mortgage foreclosures, mechanics lien actions, and construction disputes.  She also handles unfair trade practice cases and other consumer matters.
